Laser Cataract Surgery

Cataract refers to the loss of transparency in our eye's natural lens. Therefore, cataract surgery involves removing the opaque lens and replacing it with a new synthetic transparent lens. This procedure is called cataract surgery, and we perform it using the most up-to-date, cutting-edge technology known as laser, or phacoemulsification. Femtosecond laser can also be used. Cataract surgery takes approximately 10 minutes and is a sutureless procedure. I brought this method to Turkey in 1990, and we have been performing this technique for 27 years. Because it is sutureless, recovery is very easy. We numb the eye with drops, so the patient feels no pain. We administer sedatives intravenously. After 10 minutes, the patient's eye is covered with a bandage, and they go home to rest. The next day, they come for a check-up, the eye is opened, and they can return to their normal daily life with their eye open. That is, they can go outside, bend over, and cooking steam etc. does not affect it. The next day, they start seeing without glasses, we make the patient glasses-free. Thanks to the latest multi-focal intraocular lenses, if the patient previously had distance and near glasses, we can eliminate the need for these glasses with cataract surgery. In a well-performed cataract surgery, the person can see both far and near very clearly without glasses the next day.
